Ariza Credit Union Continues Support of GRENCODA’s Student Assistance Programme with $20,000 Contribution

St. George’s, Grenada – 15th Sept 2025. Ariza Credit Union has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and education in Grenada with its annual contribution of EC$20,000 to the Grenada Community Development Agency’s (GRENCODA) Student Assistance Programme (SAP). The official handing-over ceremony was held at Ariza’ Head Office, Bruce Street, St. George on 11th September, 2025.

Since 1986, GRENCODA’s Student Assistance Programme has been a lifeline for students from underserved rural communities, enabling them to pursue and complete secondary and tertiary education despite financial and social challenges. With Ariza’s steadfast partnership, more than 250 students from across St. John, St. Mark, St. Patrick, St. Andrew, and St. David have benefited since 2018.

Through Ariza’s support, students receive:

  • Tuition and exam fee assistance
  • Transportation support
  • Books, stationery, and digital tools
  • Counselling, case management, and parenting workshops
  • Access to vocational and adult learning institutions such as NEWLO and Bredge

In addition to financial support, GRENCODA provides ongoing mentorship and psychosocial assistance to ensure students not only succeed academically but also develop confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of community belonging.

Marsha Boldeau, General Secretary of GRENCODA, noted:“Teachers have reported improved performance in mathematics and science, greater classroom participation, and stronger social and emotional growth among beneficiaries. Parents and educators consistently highlight the life-changing impact of the programme. Ariza’s contribution to SAP makes this possible, and we are grateful for this partnership.”

Students and educators also continue to testify to the programme’s value. One student from St. Patrick shared:
“Before the programme, I struggled with my assignments. Now I feel more confident, and my grades have improved.”An educator from St. Mark added:
“GRENCODA is a big help—students no longer feel alone.”

Despite changing economic conditions, Ariza Credit Union has remained a consistent corporate partner. This enduring support affirms Ariza’s commitment to empowering youth, reducing barriers to education, and building stronger, safer communities.

“Ariza is proud to stand with GRENCODA in making education more accessible and creating opportunities for young people to transform their lives and their communities,” said Mervyn Lord, CEO of Ariza Credit Union. “Our annual support for the Student Assistance Programme reflects our commitment to sustainable community development and the belief that education is a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty.”

As GRENCODA continues to expand its reach to meet the growing needs of vulnerable families, Ariza’s contribution remains an anchor of hope—ensuring that students across Grenada can dream bigger, achieve more, and build brighter futures.
