Job Summary:
The job holder will be required to provide front end service to borrowing members as part of the lending process, in accordance with ‘The Ariza Way’ loan delivery standards.
Duties would include:

- Engaging with and advising existing and potential members on viable borrowing solutions and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Analysing financial and other information, preparing applications for submission to the appropriate approving body.
- Conducting site visits prior to the submission of loan applications, as well as during the project.
- Monitoring the progress of underwritten loans to meet agreed standards and timelines.
- Approving loans within designated limits, in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Performing loan closing activities according to established processes.
- Facilitating member queries/complaints and resolves them within agreed timelines.
- Contributing to the growth of the business loans portfolio and achievement of departmental targets.
- Collaborating with the Recoveries Unit to manage delinquency levels and pursuing collection strategies.
- Cross-selling the Credit Union’s products and services and develops new business.
- Collaborating with Member Care to ensure excellent service to business members.
- Updating and maintaining credit and lending records and files.
- Assisting the Manager-Business Loans with report preparation and submission.
Requirements:
Minimum Education & Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business, or related field.
Preferred Experience:
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience underwriting loans, including for business purposes and housing.
Preferred Competences, Qualities & Character Traits:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Working knowledge of Sharetec software would be an asset.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of business, residential and other loan underwriting policies and procedures.
- Ability to create, implement, and monitor budgets.
- Ability to read and understand financial statements.
