Loans Analyst II

Job Summary:

The job holder will be required to underwrite, assess and evaluate loans including mortgage applications from members of the Credit Union and make recommendations to the relevant approval authority. 

Duties would include: 

  1. Engage with members to assess viable loan solutions and facilitate completion of loan applications according to the established procedure.
  2. Apply the Credit Union’s Loans and Credit Policy, credit principles and knowledge and skills, in rigorously analysing the risks in each loan application to determine its viability.
  3. Work collaboratively with the Credit Administration team and other units to ensure superior service delivery in the timely disbursement and monitoring of approved loans; and 
  4. Educate members about their financial choices and cross-selling financial products and services available through Ariza Credit Union.
  5. Manage the assigned loans portfolio, to ensure the maintenance of quality and viability and recommending restructuring if necessary.
  6. Collaborate with team members to expedite issues, assist in analysing member requests, and takes the necessary actions in compliance with policies, regulations and by-laws. 

Requirements:

Minimum Education & Training:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or any other similar or related qualification
  2. Certified Residential Underwriter designation from a reputable institution
  3. Completion of studies related to Co-operative principles
  4. Training in personal, consumer and small business lending
  5. Training in Accounting to be able to prepare and analyse basic financial statements and to prepare and analyse cash flow statement
  6. Training in Customer Care

Preferred Experience:

  1. At least 5 years in a lending institution, underwriting mortgages 
  2. Experience in a Credit Union would be an advantage

  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Working knowledge of Sharetec software would be an asset.
